On 01 June 2016, we worked with a number of social enterprises in London to help them to understand how they can ‘DIY’ their own social investment deals. The Community Pool from Waltham Forest in London and Growing Well from Cumbria among others joined the Sprint, along with Flip’s Matt Fountain, who has successfully DIY’d his own Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR) deal for his social enterprise the Freedom Bakery. The Flip Finance team worked with the organisations, assisting them in devising approaches to raising their own social investment.
More about the organisations we worked with:
- The Community Pool CIC is a Community Interest Company which manages a 30m pool tucked away in the basement of Waltham Forest College. The vision of The Community Pool is to provide high quality aquatic facilities run for and driven by the needs of the community and any profit they make is reinvested into the facilities and for the good of the local community.
- Growing Well is a mental health charity, a working organic farm and a training centre based on a farm in Kendal, Cumbria. They help people to learn how to manage and recover from depression, anxiety and other mental health symptoms through horticultural training courses in a supportive environment and regular one-to-one meetings where individuals can discuss their mental health recovery and set goals for the future.
